About University Heights

University Heights is one of the oldest communities in San Diego, California. It is known for the Park Boulevard Business District Sign which is located at Madison Avenue and Park Boulevard and designed in 1997 by Kevin Whaley.

University Heights offers an array of residential real estate like apartments, condos, and cottages as well as million dollar estates. There are many 1920s bungalows from the Spanish Colonial Revival in Shirley Ann Place which has been designated as a historic district. The center of this community is at the intersection of Park Boulevard and Adams Avenue where you’ll find several art studios, coffee shops, restaurants, and boutiques. Residents enjoy the live evening entertainment and night clubs. Nearby are San Diego State University (SDSU), Mission Valley, Balboa Park, and the San Diego Airport.

The San Diego Unified School District is the second largest in the state. Students in this community may attend facilities like Roosevelt International Middle School and Mark Twain High School as well as highly ranked Birney Elementary School. There are hundreds of private institutions like the Calvary Christian Academy, Escondido Adventists Academy, the Montessori American School, and Halstrom Academy. Public universities also include the University of California (UCSD) and the San Diego Community College District.

To the northwest is the Riverwalk Golf Club and to the south are the San Diego Zoo and Balboa Golf Course. Families enjoy going to the Trolley Barn Park which holds free Friday evening concerts.

San Diego is famous for its beautiful beaches, museums, and its zoo. It is California’s second largest city and the nation’s eighth. Its economy relies on tourism, manufacturing, international trade, and military defense related activities.
